Organizing/Cleaning Out: a way to spark joy?
THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN A CLEAN APARTMENT/BEDROOM.
I am sure there is some psychological science and something I want to read more about regarding this topic. But. Until then. From my experience, my headspace is so much clearer when the space I live in is clean and organized.
When rooms are cluttered and objects aren’t put away it clutters my headspace. and it may sound strange but clean your room and tell me that doesn’t make you feel a million times better.
I can see those pair of pants i was looking for when my drawers are organized. and knowing where things are when i go to look for them makes my life so much easier.
There is also something so satisfying about looking at my closet or kitchen pantry or fridge and seeing it neat and clean. making my bed is a habit my mum instilled in me since I could walk and it has followed me into my young adult life. Leaving for work, or the kitchen table when i work from home, knowing my living space is tidy and in order allows me to go into my day with that same mentality. Where I live is in order therefore how I show up and the work I do will start with the same energy.
I have heard the saying “how you do one thing is how you do everything“ and the more into my young adult life I get the more i agree. Our daily habits make up our days and days make up weeks and before you know it a year has been made of these small little moments. We have the power to change how we act. Mimi Bouchard, founder of Superhuman meditations, has inspired me a lot recently. Her biggest point is that we have the power to take control of our lives right now and be the person we want to be, we just have to start acting like them.
so. thoughts? does a clean space make more a happier you? more productive you? why?
